Protect, stop killing us, says friend of Ibadan bereaved family

Mr Oluwamayowa  Oke, a friend to the father of the Ibadan slain school boy, Kehinde Alade, on Wednesday, urged officers of Nigeria Police Force to stop killing Nigerians but protect every citizen of the country.

Oke made the call while speaking with  journalists at the Alakia home, Ibadan residence of the bereaved family.

It would be recalled that a police stray bullet,on Tuesday, killed Kehinde Alade,  a  14-year-old student,  at the Alakia area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, while on his father’s car.

The father, Mr Odunayo Alade, was taking the late boy and his brothers to school when the incident happened.

Oke, a medical practitioner, said he was in the vehicle when the incident occurred.

He maintained that police were paid to protect Nigerians , not to use their weapons to kill innocent people.

He said: “Police should protect us. They should stop killing us. They shoud stop shooting people”.

While faulting  the claim that police suspected a case of abduction, Oke demanded justice on the killing of Kehinde Alade.

He said: “We are not kidnappers. Police should not give the public wrong information. We want  pure justice on this matter”.
