The Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has again adjourned the case between Kayode  Bello and the University of Ibadan [UI] and nine others over closure of the student portal till May 26,, 2025.

The Court did not sit on April 8, 2025, at the Federal High Court, Ring Road, Adeoyo in Ibadan, as earlier slated.

Justice Evelyn Maha had previously ordered   UI and nine others as respondents to file all their processes at once in order to save the time of the court.

Subsequently, the University of Ibadan and the nine others in compliance to the Order of the Court directing them to file all processes at once filed a counter affidavit, while Mr. Bello the Plaintiff in the case has filed a further affidavit countering the statements in the counter affidavit by the respondents.

Recall that it was previously reported that the Federal High Court instructed the University of Ibadan, and other respondents to file all processes needed in the suit instituted by the Plaintiff, a Graduate of the University of Ibadan.

Justice Evelyn Maha, presiding over the case (FHC/IBCS/119/2024), said filing all processes at once would save the time of the Court in adjudicating the matter.

Bello is asking the Federal High Court to compel the University of Ibadan, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, the Registrar of the institution, the Provost of the Post Graduate College, the Head of  the Information and  Communication Technology  (ICT) Unit, Post Graduate College, Mr. Biodun Ajayi, Head of  the  Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit,  Head of  the Department  of Communication and Language Arts, and Dr. Bisi Olawuyi, Lecturer, Communication and  Language Arts (CLA), in the institution to allow him have access to  his portal for the  purpose of payment  of school fees, registration and graduation at the  University of Ibadan.

Mr. Bello is praying the Court to grant includes an Order mandating the University of  Ibadan, the Vice Chancellor of the University  of Ibadan, the Registrar, University  of Ibadan,  the Provost, Post Graduate  College , University of Ibadan , Head of Department , Communication  and  Language Arts, and Dr.  Bisi Olawuyi, Lecturer  (CLA), in the institution, to include his name in the Convocation List of the University of Ibadan.

The University of Ibadan under the leadership of Prof. Kayode Adebowale, as the Vice Chancellor is yet to allow Mr. Bello graduate having fulfilled the requirements for the award of Masters in Communication and Language Arts.

The University of Ibadan has locked the student portal of Mr. Bello twice without any reason stated initially until the Plaintiff filed a case at the Court challenging his student portal closure.

Meanwhile, the Senate of the University of Ibadan has approved Mr. Bello’s academic results for his Masters programme at the University of Ibadan, last year.
